I do find the lack of knowledge at the campsites front eh staff a little odd. Do they get no training do you think? Having said that it just means they say “help yourself”. I’ve charged on club sites which were my destination (rather than passing through) and getting 24 hours for £9 works out much cheaper per kWh when timing isn’t so critical.

I only charge at Ionity (for about 27 eurocents per kWh), if not at home (for free) - and only overnight outside any paid space with my caravan.

Anyway, I would expect that the owners will eventually consider upgrading their installation to a 3 phase CEE once there are enough customers.

Hi andrew, like you i have an EV6, and also looking to buy a caracan. I’ve seen some very aerodynamic looking shapes on caravans (eg eriba, freedom caravans etc), and also seen some very lightweight caravans. Im unsure if aero or weight makes the most difference? The eriba is a nice shape but heavy, fir example. If you had to buy a 4 berth caravans to pair up with an EV6, what models would you be considering purely from a “maximizing range” perspective?

There is still work required for charging EVs more easily and it seems that the installation of chargers has slowed down but EV ownership is growing strongly. It was once the other way round.

A lot more needs to be done obviously but hopefully it will all be ironed out soon! Our local Lidl has an ev charger, it's all brand new! You said you had to get down south sharpish, I hope it was nothing untoward that caused this rush?! How's your brother now and your mum? I hope it wasn't anything to do with family! I should think you have to use your phone calculator a lot nowadays?! These phones are so useful for many applications other than calling someone!! Take care whatever you're doing at the moment. Don't know where you are this precise moment but drive safely and keep the boys out of this heat! Hugs xx

I used the chargers at Cayton Village last year. I had booked one of the pitches which has a charger on it but it was already "ICED" - pretty pointless having them if they can't reserve them for the customers who need them. Great article Andrew. I'll post a link on my next blog.
